SIA, a cybersecurity leader in Spain and Portugal, under the Indra umbrella, has launched a specialized Cybersecurity Center of Excellence for the healthcare sector. The center, based in Madrid, aims to address the unique security challenges in healthcare, focusing on both public and private domains.

The international team, consisting of SIA cybersecurity experts and collaboration with Minsait, Indra’s digital transformation arm, will work closely with technological partners. The goal is to provide advanced solutions to combat the escalating cyber threats targeting patient information, medical devices, and healthcare operations.

The Center of Excellence will concentrate on key areas such as safeguarding information and medical devices, managing third-party risks, and applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) while considering associated risks.

Espina emphasizes the critical importance of ensuring continuous healthcare operations, stating that «unavailability of technologies can pose a serious threat to patient care.» Additionally, the project aims to help healthcare institutions prevent and manage risks associated with third-party collaborations.

The establishment of this Center of Excellence reinforces SIA’s commitment to healthcare cybersecurity, complementing its existing projects in public and private healthcare. The company’s track record includes strategic initiatives for risk management, incident response, and comprehensive access system solutions for Electronic Health Records and Electronic Prescriptions in various regional governments.
