The xShare project is a 3-year European initiative that aims to enable people to easily share their health data through the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EHRxF). This project seeks to facilitate the interoperability of health data and promote healthy digital ecosystems in Europe. The vision of xShare is that everyone can share their health data in the European EHRxF with a simple click, which will contribute to improving the portability of personal health data.

At the heart of the xShare project lies the creation of the European Electronic Health Record eXchange Format (EHRxF) Standards and Policy Hub. Spearheaded by experts from the CEN/TC 251 committee, this hub aims to establish a centralized platform for the exchange of electronic health records (EHRs) across Europe. By ensuring that users have access to comprehensive support and guidance, both within and outside the project, xShare is paving the way for a more interconnected and accessible healthcare system.

With its user-friendly interface and seamless integration with existing health portals and patient apps, the European EHRxF empowers individuals to share their health data securely with just the click of a button.

But xShare is more than just a data-sharing platform – it’s a catalyst for innovation and collaboration in the digital health sphere. Aligned with the EU’s Digital Decade policy programme, xShare aims to empower businesses and individuals alike, fostering a sustainable and prosperous digital future for all. By facilitating the exchange of high-quality health data, xShare not only promotes digital resilience but also fuels advancements in research, policy-making, and healthcare delivery.

As the xShare project progresses, the Standards and Policy Hub will focus on co-creation, research, and development across three key areas: continuity of care, population health, and clinical research. By fostering collaboration and innovation in these domains, xShare aims to accelerate the adoption of the EHRxF and drive meaningful advancements in healthcare delivery and outcomes.

With its Trust & Flow paradigm, xShare is poised to serve as a catalyst for research and innovation in the EHDS, driving the evolution of eStandards as infrastructure for innovation. Through ongoing collaboration and engagement, xShare is paving the way for a more interconnected, data-driven future for healthcare in Europe and beyond.
