CT Provision SLU, a new start-up revolutionizing the prognosis and diagnosis of subarachnoid hemorrhage, has emerged onto the healthcare technology scene. Founded by Dr. Marcin Balcerzyk, an Iker basque Research Professor at the Bioaraba Health Research Institute (IIS Bioaraba), this venture stems from the HOP2Market project, a part of the ITEMAS Innovation Support Program. It marks the platform’s inaugural spin-off.
The primary goal of CT Provision SLU is to develop and market a SaaS medical product featuring innovative technology for subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) diagnosis and prognosis. SAH is a severe and rare brain condition with potentially debilitating outcomes, including decreased quality of life or mortality.
This tool aids in predicting disease progression, enabling proactive intervention in high-risk cases. Utilizing Artificial Intelligence, it analyzes brain CT images alongside clinical data such as age, gender, and neurological severity scales to calculate probabilities of vasospasm, delayed cerebral ischemia, and mortality. The HOP software, designed for risk prediction in SAH patients, facilitates early decision-making for intensive care relocation, anticipating complications for timely endovascular treatment. It promises up to 15% cost savings for hospital ICUs.
Protected by patents in the US (US11344260B2) and Europe (EP3664027B1), validated in Spain (ES2965868T3) and the UK (EP18840523GB), with a Unitary Patent, these innovations are held by the Andalusian Health Service.
Currently in TLR 4-5 phase, HOP requires CE marking and FDA approval before market entry. Initially available for scientific use on the QMENTA platform, it supports research and clinical trials. CT Provision SLU is actively seeking investors and navigating regulatory processes. Future plans involve expanding the patient base, extending utility to intracranial hemorrhage diagnosis, and conducting prospective clinical trials to achieve TRL 9.
As the first spin-off from ITEMAS’s Innovation Support Program, CT Provision SLU exemplifies successful technology transfer to Spain’s healthcare system.
