Samsung Electronics continues to strengthen its role in the digital health industry with the release of the Samsung Health Research Stack 2.0 Beta on September 27. This open-source platform, part of the newly launched Samsung Health SDK Suite, aims to support researchers and developers in creating digital health solutions using data from mobile and wearable devices. It facilitates efficient data measurement and analysis across Android and Wear OS ecosystems.
Samsung Health Research Stack offers tools like an app SDK for application development, a back-end service for managing collected data, and a web portal for designing and analyzing studies. The latest version introduces key features such as enhanced support for smartwatch sensor data, allowing researchers to develop apps that track electrocardiogram, blood oxygen levels, and body composition using the Galaxy Watch’s advanced sensors. Additionally, the new Data SDK enables the integration of sleep data from devices like the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring into research applications.
Samsung’s initiative reflects the growing importance of wearable tech in clinical research, as it provides a more comprehensive view of users’ health in real time. The platform will be showcased at the Samsung Developer Conference 2024 (SDC24) in San Jose, California, further demonstrating Samsung’s commitment to advancing global digital health research through collaboration with the healthcare industry.
