The Supernova Challenge 2.0, the largest early-stage startup pitch competition in the world, wrapped up today at Expand North Star, showcasing groundbreaking innovations from across the globe. With a total prize pool of $200,000, this year’s challenge saw record-breaking participation, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global hub for tech entrepreneurship. Organized by the Dubai World Trade Centre and hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, Expand North Star marked its most significant and busiest edition to date. This year’s event welcomed over 1,800 startups and more than 1,200 investors, reflecting a 40% increase in global participation for 2024.
Over 650 startups entered the Supernova Challenge, competing for the title of Overall Supernova Champion. Participants hailed from 69 countries, with the UAE, India, and South Korea leading the charge. The startups represented various development stages, with 39% in the Seed/Early stage, 24% at Series A, and 18% in Pre-Seed. Notably, AI, SaaS, and Healthcare emerged as the most prominent sectors, showcasing the cutting-edge innovations driving the global startup ecosystem.
The intense competition culminated in a grand finale where 20 finalists presented their innovations to a distinguished jury, featuring prominent figures from the investment and tech sectors. Latvian health tech startup Longenesis won the top prize of $100,000 for its groundbreaking solutions that accelerate the development of innovative treatments and enhance patient engagement. Longenesis specializes in digital health technologies that harness patient data to streamline clinical trials and expedite the research and development of new therapies. By facilitating real-world evidence generation and patient engagement, Longenesis aims to improve health outcomes and make innovative treatments more accessible.

In addition, Singapore’s ProfilePrint secured second place with its AI-driven ingredient quality platform, while South Korea’s NEXTPAYMENTS INC. took third place, highlighting the impressive array of innovative solutions showcased at the event. The Supernova Challenge 2.0 not only highlighted the talent and creativity of startups worldwide but also underscored the UAE’s role in shaping the future of technology and entrepreneurship.
