While most reproductive health wearables focus on period tracking or fertility, identifyHer is shifting the conversation with Peri, a new device designed to help people monitor and manage perimenopause symptoms.

Perimenopause, the transition before menopause, can bring unpredictable symptoms like mood swings, hot flashes, and night sweats, lasting anywhere from a few months to a decade. Unlike traditional wearables that sit on the wrist or finger, Peri adheres to the torso, providing more accurate readings of symptoms.

The device gathers continuous data on key perimenopausal experiences, using advanced algorithms trained on three years of research. Surprisingly, the team found that body temperature alone isn’t a reliable marker for hot flashes, prompting them to refine their approach to ensure external factors like exercise or warm weather don’t skew results.

Although the sensors used in Peri aren’t new, identifyHer’s breakthrough lies in the digital fingerprints they’ve uncovered—patterns of physiological changes unique to perimenopausal women. These insights could help users better understand their symptoms and receive actionable recommendations.

Set to launch in mid-2025, Peri still has to prove its effectiveness in real-world settings. However, its arrival marks a significant step toward addressing gaps in women’s health tech.
